Partner ORGANIZATIONS

Metropolitan detroit Ski Council

Formed in 1957, the Metropolitan Detroit Ski Council is today made up of 20 clubs, including ours, 7 business members, and 2800 enrolled individuals that participate in year-round social and sports activities.

In addition to skiing and snowboarding these clubs, like ours, organize events throughout the year such as canoeing, white water  rafting, picnics, hiking, horseback riding, dinner theater outings, golfing, biking, camping, movie premiere nights, in-line skating, and rock climbing to name just a few.

Members enjoy discounts on ski and snowboarding equipment, plus trips and events, and they participate year-round in activities that promote social interaction and friendships.

The Ann Arbor Ski Club is a member of the MDSC and therefore our active (paid-up) members have the privilege of joining other MDSC clubs on their trips or at their events as if they are a dues-paying member of that club, which expands the range of options for members substantially.

Guess what!  MDSC is itself a member of a larger organization, The National Ski Federation.   MDSC is one of nine regional Central councils.  There are 29 councils nationwide.   MDSC covers Michigan, but also extends into Ohio and Ontario.

Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council

The Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council (CMSC) primary goal is to promote and support our member clubs in their effort to further the interest in skiing, snow boarding, plus year round activities and social activities.
CMSC is a not for profit organization with 61 member clubs throughout the Chicago metropolitan area and neighboring states, representing over 7,500 skiers and snowboarders.

The CMSC is a 501(c)(7) Not For Profit organization.

CMSC HISTORY

The Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council ("CMSC") was formed in 1957 and currently has over 60 member clubs. The clubs represented offer downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing as well as various other activities year round. They are adventure clubs, singles clubs, family clubs, and clubs that welcome all comers.

CMSC offers clubs the opportunity to participate in our council sponsored ski/snowboard trips: Europe, Chicago Week and Spring Fling, our Racing program for both skiing and snowboarding with 7 weekend races a year. lso Trip Seminar where clubs select destinations for the upcoming trips, along with various other activities.

Our publication, the Ski & Ride Club Guide, and our web site keep us all up to date with events and news of the ski industry, council and clubs.

CMSC is managed entirely by volunteers who are members of our clubs. We encourage club members to join us on committees and as council officers. Ski clubs appoint delegates to the CMSC to represent their club. CMSC acts with the member ski clubs to promote the sports of skiing and snowboarding.

2017 was the 60th anniversary of the CMSC, and to commemorate the anniversary, our 2017 issue of The Ski and Ride Club Guide was a special edition that featured photos and events from the many years CMSC has been in operation. You can download it here.
