One of the Final Pieces!

Any Friend of the Lakelands Trail is a Friend of A2SC

Hosts: Unhosted

Our friends are hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and you are invited.  After the ceremony the Friends will lead three bike rides;

  • A short ride into the park to Spring Mill Pond and back – about 6 miles and flat.
  • A longer ride to Kent Lake and back – about 12 miles with a couple of short steep hills.
  • A much longer ride to and around Kensington and back – about 22 miles & very hilly.

There will be bike trip leaders for each of the three rides.  Or, take walking shoes.  Some friends will celebrate the moment with an amble.

This trail was sponsored by the Friends of the Lakelands Trail and Friends of Island Lake Recreation Area.  It is one of the final pieces filling in the Great Lake to Lake Trail (GLLT) stretching from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron.

The trail will provide an official non-motorized entrance into the park from Green Oak Township, consolidating the five-plus non-designated trails that lead into the park from the mall right now.

[One of these unofficial trails was once dubbed the A2SC trail among serious
bikers as it was members from our past that first established the trail.]

The event can be found at Green Oak Village Place Mall near the J C Penney.

Though this event is un-hosted one of our members correctly identified it as the kind of thing A2SC members care about, so word about this event should get widely shared.  Indeed!
