President's Letter: Thank You, Dennis!

I want to give a big THANK YOU to Dennis Slough for his time spent over the past years for the Ann Arbor Ski Club. No, he is not going away, just changing responsibilities, but he deserves recognition for giving his all for the club! Dennis has been a member since 2009. During this time, he has been President, been involved in the Rewards Program, helped design the current website and keep it current plus his tireless efforts on the E-Blast. Spending up to 3 hours every Sunday to publish this to send out so members can keep informed and updated. A club is only as strong as its volunteers and THANK YOU Dennis for your commitment to keeping this club alive and strong.

Thank you also goes to Anne Gilbert for trying on a new hat and skillset. She will be taking over writing the E-Blast/Newsletter and Dennis will be working on the calendar and meetup to give him a much-needed break.

Cross Country Skiing

Lane Hotchkiss, XC Skiing Chair, has released the 2023 Season Overview.  Get a look at the whole season in one page. 

The Cross-Country Kickoff GM is on November 10.

Ski Swaps

Bob Cowen of the Alpine Valley Ski Patrol has produced another calendar of swap meets in Southeast Michigan.  Here's a link to his calendar: here.

A2SC Texting Service

The Ann Arbor Ski Club texting service for members is now operational and available for sign-up. To use this optional service you must opt in by updating your A2SC membership profile.

Here’s How:

Log in to the A2SC website. (Hint - Use the email address where you received this eBlast)

Once logged in follow these steps:

  1. Click the large red “Edit Profile” box.
  2. Head down to “We would like to send you relevant text messages”.
  3. To read the consent agreement click the link that says “I consent to receive text messages. From….” . Note that it will open in a separate window.
  4. Return to the original window to consent to the agreement by checking the box next to the link. Leave blank if you do not agree or do not want to receive text messages.
  5. Return to the top of the page and click the large red “Save” box.
  6. To log out click the person icon in the upper right corner and select “Log Out”.

After that look forward to receiving your first text alert in the next few days.

A2SC Mobile App

The Ann Arbor Ski Club has a mobile app.  It runs on IOS and Android.  Jeff Carpenter has written a nice piece on how to download the app.

Members have reported problems with the app.  An upgrade will correct the issue.  You have to delete it from your phone, then reload.
