Aloha Party and Trip Signups on May 15!
|

The Aloha Party will be Thursday, May 15 from 7:00 - 10:00 pm at the UA Hall.
Note the new time - all future meetings and parties will be from 7-10.
Signups for these 2026 ski trips will begin at 7:00 pm:
Jan 24-31 St. Anton, Austria
Feb 28-Mar 7 Mt. Hood, OR
Mar 21-28 Telluride, CO
Look for a special newsletter next week with more details about these week-long ski trips.
This year's Aloha Party will NOT be a potluck. See Todd Newman's note below for more on the menu.
Music by Naked Ace band will begin at 8:00.
Signups for the club favorite Cuyahoga biking-hiking- relaxation trip on June 6-8 will also begin at 7:00.

Our Annual Meeting, Business Meeting and Elections meeting was held on April 17. 73 members attended, well over our required quorum of 50. These members were elected by acclamation, as there were no nominations from the floor: President: Todd Newman Board Members (Five 2-year positions):
- David Birkhold
- Lane Hotchkiss
- Jim Kelly (incumbent)
- Nancy Marcotte
- Vicki Watson (incumbent)

From our President:
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who came out for our election meeting last month. Although it was a little anti-climactic with a vote by acclamation, it was extremely important that we had a quorum, and we were able to do that. As I mentioned at the meeting, I am excited to work with our new board and do not anticipate any major changes next year.
I am sad to report that all of our snow has melted locally, although you can still get a few laps in on Victor up at Boyne (seriously). While we wait patiently for the weather to improve, we still have a lot to offer. This summer, we have two picnics plus numerous other events still in the planning stages that you will need to check the website for, including: bike rides, happy hours and a fun walking tour of Detroit architecture. If you want to make something happen, speak to a board member about leading an event.
Our next big event is the Aloha Party on May 15. This is also our trip signup party for our major ski trips for 2026. We will have a band, and in leu of a pig with an apple stuffed in its mouth, we will have BBQ smoked pork shoulder and traditional BBQ sides. Trip signups will start at 7:00 and the party should be in full swing by 8:00. The guys with the flaming spears were unavailable, so you will need to wear a Hawaiian shirt and dance to the music of Naked Ace. I hope to see you there.

The Ann Arbor Ski Club has a mobile app. It runs on IOS and Android. Jeff Crawford has written a nice piece on how to download the app. Members have reported problems with the app. An upgrade will correct the issue. You have to delete it from your phone, then reload. |
