HEY SKIERS!!! THIS YEAR (2022-2023) A2SC IS GOING
STEEP AND DEEP
WITH EPIC!
|
|
IMPORTANT: Due to the way Epic and the travel agencies are handling passes these days, we will not be including any ski tickets in our Western trip packages. The industry has changed. You will need to separately buy some sort of Epic system pass to participate on an A2SC 2023 trip.
Purchasing now may deliver your best bargain.
|
|
All of our trips Out-West are at Epic resorts, and we are planning skiing events at Mt. Brighton too, which is also Epic. If you are planning on participating (and we sure hope you are), it would probably be wise to buy your Epic pass before the price goes up.
An Epic Local pass probably will cover all your needs but check out the options and decide for yourself.
Current pricing for a 6 day ticket is $500. A full on “Local Pass” is $639 and includes much, much more, including unlimited skiing at Breckenridge, Keystone and Mt. Brighton as well as 10 days at Whistler, Vail and the Tahoe resorts.
For more information on Epic passes:
|
If you want you can purchase your Epic pass from the club's travel agent for 2023, Sports America.
They have a page customized for us from which you can select and purchase your pass for next year. Plus, they do a good job describing your options.

We Run on Volunteering
|
A2SC is a club that runs on volunteers and a bunch of new ones just stepped up. Lisa Salisbury, the club's new president has put together a list of our regular jobs and who is filling them. You can read it here. Since contact information is included, you must be a logged-in active member. Even though a lot of jobs got filled there's still room for another volunteer or two or ten. Step on up! And! We're always looking for a nice well-hosted event to add to our calendar.

Contact Dennis if interested in editing the club's weekly eBlast. He's kindly offered to step aside! It's been a fun gig!

There's a feeling comes a-stealing,
And it sets my brain a-reeling,
When I'm list'ning to the music of a military band.
Any tune like "Yankee Doodle"
Simply sets me off my noodle,
It's that patriotic something that no one can understand
"Way down South, in the land of cotton,"
Melody untiring,
Ain't that inspiring?
Hurrah! Hurrah! We'll join the jubilee!
And that's going some, for the Yankees, by gum!
Red, White and Blue, I am for you!
Honest, you're a grand old flag!
You're a grand old flag
You're a high-flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave
You're the emblem of the land I love
The home of the free and the brave
Ev'ry heart beats true
'Neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag
But should auld acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye on the grand old flag
I'm no cranky hanky panky
I'm a dead square, honest Yankee
And I'm mighty proud of that old flag that flies for Uncle Sam
Though I don't believe in raving
Ev'ry time I see it waving,
There's a chill runs up my back that makes me glad I'm what I am
Here's a land with a million soldiers
That's if we should need 'em
We'll fight for freedom!
Hurrah! Hurrah! For ev'ry Yankee Tar
And old G.A.R., ev'ry stripe, ev'ry star
Red, White and Blue, hats off to you!
Honest, you're a grand old flag!

This song was written for Cohan’s 1906 Broadway musical George Washington Jr.
Like Cohan’s earlier “The Yankee Doodle Boy,” it also interpolates many earlier patriotic songs. Cohan said he drew inspiration from a real-life encounter with a Civil War veteran who carried a torn-up flag from the Battle of Gettysburg.
The scene is replicated in the show. The soldier called his war memento “a grand old rag,” which is what Cohan originally titled the song, but after numerous objections by various groups, he changed the last word to “flag.” -- from Genius.com
