Status of Ski Trips

  • Big Sky, Montana filled and there is a wait list.
  • Park City, Utah filled, but then Lane was able to expand the trip size so there are a few spots still available
  • Whistler only had 9 sign up.  Because a major payment was due a few days after the Corn Roast, and travel to Canada is still cumbersome, a joint decision was made to cancel the trip by the co-leaders and Lane and Greg.  Our entire deposit with the travel broker has been reapplied to a 2023 trip to the same destination.  No funds were lost because of the cancellation.
  • Schuss/Shanty has 9 signed up so far-- a good start!

Greg Robertson, Club President, says...

"The Corn Roast was very successful.  Thank you to all that helped out!  I especially want to acknowledge the contributions of Alan [Osterdale] and Cheryl [Anderson] who each went above and beyond."

And, "We had a paid attendance of 178.  There were 121 current members in attendance and 17 new members that signed up at the door."

...speaking to the Board.

Thank You Graphic

Plus 40 friends of the club.

Covid Vaccine Mandated

Because of the new higher infection rates and in response to member queries the Board of Directors voted unanimously on Monday 16-Aug to require Coronavirus vaccines for next year's ski trips and other trips and club-hosted meetings that include time spent inside close together.

The club will require proof of vaccination for these vaccination-required events.

The BOD recognizes the risks during this time of rising infection rates for members spending hours together traveling, sleeping, and eating in close quarters.

The BOD is taking and will continue to take steps to mitigate that risk.  The BOD follows the advice of public health officials, including the CDC.

Outside Events Can Be Different

The club is not requiring a vaccine for the September Pedal & Pour Bike Trip.

  • This event is safely outside
  • Members travel to Traverse City in car pools of pandemic cohorts, i.e. you know each other well.
  • The Friday P&P reception may get redesigned.  Watch for news on that.

Generally speaking club outdoor events will not require vaccines or masks.  But, please be familiar with Covid best practices for your sake and the sake of your friends.

If you have the sniffles, vaccine or not, stay home!

Tips and Member News

Chalk artist and illusionist David Zinn, of Ann Arbor, has written a guide book on how to create those cool images he keeps doing.

And, Sara Barnes wrote a nice piece about David, his book, and his art at this fascinating web site.

Scroll to the bottom of the article for more similar stories and fascinating street art.  Or visit David's website.  Too fun!
