From Our President

We had a great time at Mt. Bachelor on our latest Western trip. The snow was pretty decent, especially considering how all Western resorts have been suffering this year. We had close to bluebird conditions on Monday and Tuesday, then got a pretty good dump on Wednesday and into Thursday. The summit never opened while we were there, but they were doing avalanche blasting on Friday (our last day on the slopes) in preparation for a Saturday opening. Mt. Bachelor itself is a large, no frills resort and the 7th largest by skiable acreage in the US. We stayed at some great condos in Sunriver. Additionally, there was an optional trip to Crater Lake that was enjoyed by all who went. The shuttles arranged by Jim and Lisa worked great, delivering us to and from the ski hill as well as several off-site social gatherings. There was enough in the budget to allow for a big steak dinner on Friday, so I got my caveman on…

This is actually my second time at Mt. Bachelor, with the first being in 2021 with my family. I would not hesitate to return.

I am looking forward to returning to Telluride Saturday. This is after our not-to-be-missed St. Patrick’s party on Thursday, featuring corned beef, cabbage and GUINNESS, as well as one of our favorite bands: Salmagundi. I hope to see you all there.
