Just Your Classic Hump Day Ride

After returning to our cars, and loading our bikes, we’ll gather on the roof-top deck at Zukey Lake Tavern for apres-pedal refreshments and socializing.

How Does it Work?

Meet at 2:00 PM on Wednesday afternoons all summer at the Zukey Lake Tavern parking lot (5011 Girard Drive, Pinckney, MI). We've been given permission to park our cars at the far end of the parking lot (just as you enter off Girard, and before the first speed bump), with the assumption that most of us will stay to enjoy refreshments after the ride.

We'll pedal east to Whitmore Lake Road, then turn back, pedaling west to the end of the paved trail before returning to the parking lot (a total of about 23 miles round trip on the paved, predominately flat trail).

After returning to our cars, and loading our bikes, we'll gather on the roof-top deck at Zukey Lake Tavern for apres-pedal refreshments and socializing. NOTE: There's no live music on the deck, this year, but plenty of smiles. . .

The May happy hour will be held on Thursday, May 14 at Condado Tacos, 401 E. Liberty, Ann Arbor from 5:00-7:00 PM. Happy hour at Condado's runs from 3:00-6:00 PM, so come early if you want to take advantage of these discounts: $7 house Margaritas, $9 house large Margarita, $27 house Margarita pitcher, $7 frozen Margarita, $7 skinny (lower sugar) Margarita, $8 Gran Clasico, and $1 off all Draft Beer. Come socialize with your friends and make new ones!

The Details

Starting Fall 2025 Euchre Night will be a Members Only event.
3rd Saturday of every month starting September 20, 2025.
Online Registration Required.
Monthly Sign Ups will begin two weeks before each event. A Red "REGISTER" or "JOIN WAITLIST" Button will appear at that time.
Limited to 18 participants with a waitlist.
To be held in Dana Arning's Home each month. Address will appear in Registration Confirmation Email.

We play a casual and friendly 5-round game with a different partner for each round.

$5 entry fee and winnings paid to top 3 scores.
You must understand the game and know how to play.
Euchre pot on every table, each partner donates a quarter when euchred.
Must be present to win.
Please bring quarters for the euchre pots.

Euchre season begins again in just 3.5 weeks! Due to a number of factors, attendance is now largely comprised of non-club members. This was never the intent of our Euchre event; it was always intended to be a fun evening of camaraderie and socializing around a friendly and casual game of cards where one could meet fellow members who also enjoy the game.

Starting Sept 20, Euchre Night will be a Members Only event held in my home, with a new buy-in price of $5.
I will provide some very light snacks, but please eat dinner before arriving and BYOB. Please plan to pay your $5 at the door and bring quarters for euchres.

Due to space, we are limited to 19 players (4 tables w/3 sitting out per game) with sign-ups on the website beginning 2 weeks before the event. There will also be a waitlist if it is full when you try to sign up.

Please be courteous to others by cancelling your sign-up ASAP if you cannot make it; by doing so, the next person on the waitlist will automatically be moved onto the player list.

We will start at 2:00 PM at the parking lot of Forest Lawn Cemetery, at the corner of Grand and Broad. Typically we will ride north to the Hudson Mills Metropark (5 miles), ride a loop around the park (3 miles) and return to the parking lot for a total of 13 miles. Ride is flat and paved with some boardwalk.

One excellent way to get to know the club and meet members, or to learn what's new in the club is to come to a General Meeting.

AT GENERAL MEETINGS (GMS) TWO THINGS OCCUR;

A little club business is conducted, and
A lot of fun happens.

The fun typically includes ice-breaking conversation over snacks and beverages followed by dancing to a DJ's tunes, with the business conducted in-between.

Some nights more business happens, but on a typical evening it's concluded in about 30 minutes leaving plenty of time for entertainment.

What kind of business? Filling up trips! Announcing trips, answering questions. Also, announcing and answering questions regarding upcoming events. And asking and answering questions!

NON-MEMBERS ARE WELCOME!

We require at the door from guests a $20 donation to help cover expenses.

You must be age 21 or over or accompanied by parent or guardian. Cover charge of $5 for PAID Ann Arbor Ski Club members.

BYOB is NOT approved.

The club has hired a bartender for General Meetings and the beverages are no-charge so leave your bottle at home!

Fun for everyone. If you just want to relax in a pool, play games, go for a walk, go for a long hike, see the sites, ride a train, bike 5 miles or over 30 miles: This is the trip for you.

Lodging: We are staying at the Holiday Inn Express, Richfield, OH where there is a pool. An area for us to just relax, a recreation center to play games and a fitness center. Then beautiful sites to see.

Whether you bike the old tow path from the Ohio & Erie Canal or hike the park’s beautiful trails, you’re bound to love Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

The tow path is crushed limestone, but quite suitable for road bikes. There are also paved scenic paths connecting to the Cleveland Metroparks.

Hiking offers a variety of choices. You can hike to a number of waterfalls or enjoy the scenic rock formations along “the Ledges” trail. In the spring, the Heron also nest in the park and the sight is amazing.

The trip includes:

Looking for Holiday Weekend fun?

SAVE THE DATE: Join us on Sunday, May 24, as we pedal the Falling Waters Trail from the Weatherwax Trailhead in Summit Township to Concord, where we traditionally stop for ice cream at Sattler's Tasty Treat (try their delicious Lemon Custard soft-serve available only on holiday weekends) before we head back. The ride is 13 miles each way on a paved, beautifully scenic and virtually flat dedicated bike trail. Plan to arrive by 10:50 AM, ready to ride at 11:00.

Pedal Across Lower Michigan (Sat, June 20, 2026)

PEDAL ACROSS LOWER MICHIGAN

Come join us on a fun bike ride this summer: Saturday, June 20 – Friday, June 26, 2026

The cost is only $210 for adults. With your meals add $130.

The 2026 route: Pentwater, Montague, White Cloud, Evart, Houghton Lake, Hale, Oscoda

Cost includes: SAG (support and gear) service, overnight facility uses for tent camping with showers and bathrooms, transport of luggage between sites, road markings and GPS cues for routes, daily watermelon stops, bicycle education, and children's activities!

The ride is 30‑60 miles per day for six days. The tour is limited to 700 participants.

Pedal Across Lower Michigan begins near Lake Michigan and meanders east, passing scenic, cultural, and historic sites. Many attractions will lure you from your bicycle – and you will have plenty of time to enjoy them. The route, which changes each year, generally avoids major urban areas. Sometimes a small downtown may be included for special interest, or for finding lunch or a snack. We use paved routes geared to the novice and intermediate touring rider. The daily distances and terrain combine to make PALM well suited to family bicycling. Some people bring their own sag and campers. Others stay in hotels along the way. This is a fun way to experience, see Michigan and get some exercise.

Room Assignments: Trip leaders will advise you of the rooms available. You cannot contact the Inn to request a specific room (they will not take your request).

Alpine skiers usually ski Nubs Nob Friday, Boyne Highlands Saturday and Boyne Mountain Sunday. Nordic skiers can ski at Wildwood, which has several loops for different abilities, trails at Boyne Mountain, and at many surrounding State and local parks. Lift tickets and trail passes are not included in the package.

Rooms & Roommates: Due to the uniqueness of the Inn, the number of twin bed rooms are limited, therefore, first come, first served. All other standard rooms have a single queen or king bed. There is a total of 29 rooms at the standard rate. Queen and king suites (include a variety of different amenities) are available for an additional cost. If you are requesting a double occupancy room, we encourage you to try and find your own roommate. We will make every effort to match you with a roommate, but this is not guaranteed. If there is not another single to share a room you will be offered Single Occ pricing or you can cancel.

Trip Itinerary

Friday: Check in after 3:00 pm. The evening begins at 6:30 pm with a Reception Party in the dining room, followed by socializing by the fire in the great room. Terrace Inn bar will be open.

Saturday: Breakfast 8-10 a.m. Appetizers at 5:30. Dinner will be served at 7:00 pm followed by socializing, cards, games Terrace Inn bar will be open.

Sunday: Breakfast 8-10 a.m., followed by check‐out by 11 a.m. and skiing

Stokely Creek is an all-inclusive winter ski & snowshoe resort. At Stokely, along with the comfortable accommodations, you will have access to three fine homemade meals each day plus appetizers in the late afternoon.

Stokely is located in the Algoma Highlands, just 35 minutes north of Ste. Saint Marie in Goulais River, Canada.

One hundred kilometers of XC trails (66 miles) traverse to the highest peaks of King Mountain and across the valley and creeks below. The trails are expertly groomed and marked green, blue, and black according to difficulty.

The deposit needs to be paid at the time of trip sign up. For most people, this will be at the Aloha/Trip Sign Up Party on Thursday 05-21-26. Payment at the party can be in the form of cash, check or credit card (+3% fee).
For subsequent payments, beginning in Sept, we encourage people to pay via ACH directly to Encompasse Tours using their website. There is NO FEE for this service.
NOTE: Trip payments coincide with Encompasse Tours payment due dates. We respectfully ask that you remit payments in a timely manner so that we meet Encompasse’s deadlines.

Valid Traveler Information Required

MEMBERS MUST VERIFY THAT THEIR DATA IS CORRECT IN THE AASC MEMBERSHIP DATABASE. Full name, including middle, and birthday must match Enhanced Driver's License (US) or Passport (International trips). Trip rosters will be populated using the AASC database and failure to verify your information may lead to problems at trip departure. This is a new location for us in Whistler. Condo style accommodations, complementary ski valet at the foot of the gondola, and free shuttle service (less than a ten minute walk).

Whistler is known for its skiing and snowboarding in the winter and mountain biking and hiking in the summer. Other winter activities that are enjoyed in Whistler are cross country skiing (both classic and skate skiing), ice skating, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, telemark skiing, and tobogganing. Summer activities enjoyed in Whistler include golfing, fishing, trail running, mountain biking, outdoor yoga, and hiking.

For skiing, arguably the main attraction of Whistler, the different run difficulties (easiest to hardest) are green (circle), blue (square), black (diamond), and double black (diamond). Throughout the year each run's difficulty stays the same.[19] There are many signs around the mountain that indicate the difficulty of the runs and there are "expert only" signs at the bottom of some chairlifts indicating that most of the runs accessible from that chair are black diamonds or double black diamonds.

North America's biggest and most popular ski resort, Vail is an alpine village in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Long a favorite of serious skiers and jet setting celebrities, Vail now also draws a younger, hipper snowboarding crowd. Skiing is king at Vail Mountain and the Blue Sky Basin, but the area's vast splendor is perfect for hiking, biking, snowmobiling or scenery-gazing at any time of the year.

Affordable condo lodging in Vail, walking distance to Lionshead and the Eagle Bahn Gondola. Short shuttle or walk to Vail Village. Located adjacent to the Vail Health Hospital, Steadman Clinic and Dobson Ice Arena. Outdoor pool and hot tub with views of Vail Mountain.

TEN-Day MEDITERRANEAN Cruise

The club is excited to offer the following Mediterranean cruise...

Departing Barcelona October 8, returning October 18 2027, with the following itinerary: Barcelona - Naples, Sicily, Rome, Florence/Pisa, Portofino, Nice, Barcelona.

Sign-ups started online on Saturday April 11 at Noon.

You may register your self and one guest. You must click the Red "ADD GUEST" button at the bottom of the Registration Form to enter your guest's information.

At this time, we are only taking reservations for the cruise itself, and the deposit of $250 per person will be fully refundable if you elect to back out. Details will be in the contract. Rooms reserved range in price between $4,084 - $4,614 per person. Airfare will be an added option when it becomes available in the fall, and a possible pre or post stay in Barcelona is being evaluated.

Boat: Travel will be on the Celebrity XCEL, one of their newer ships.

Rooms: Ocean View and Veranda class rooms are available. Selection of specific rooms will be available when you make your first payment to SportsAmerica (April 11 - Sep 1st).

Options:

Once registered with the cruise, you will be able to book and pay for ship sponsored excursions in each port.
Airfare options will become available in the fall of 2026 and will be offered to all participants
Trip Insurance (Highly Recommended) will be available when registering with SportsAmerica
Pre and Post hotel options are being reviewed. When registering at SportsAMerica, be sure to check the appropriate boxes to be kept in the loop. There will be no formal tours or group activities pre or post, but Barcelona is a wonderful town for self guided activities and experiencing the work of Gaudi. Bring the Rick Steves Spain or Barcelona guide book and explore the Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Hop on/Hop off bus, Montserrat Monastery and Casa Batlo,

PAYMENTS

Trip Deposit will be made via credit card to the ski club website and will be subject to a surcharge. All future payments will be made to Sportsamerica and can be done via credit card (with surcharge) or via check. Important Note. The deposit will give you space on the trip. The first payment will guarantee you a specific room and room type. You may cancel the cruise up until May 2027, with a refund of the cruise money (minus a small fee). Additional options such as airfare and hotel will have their own payment schedules and cancellation clauses. See details on contract for more information..
