Summer Activities

Volleyball - Mondays - Open to All

Join us for casual, open volleyball every Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Gallup Park.  Look for our nets in the field near the farthest picnic pavilion.  We are co-locating with the Ann Arbor Adventure Club.  Doug Cook is the club's coordinator.  When the weather is uncertain look for last minute updates on our Facebook page.

Mountain Biking - Open to All

There is an active group of mountain bikers in the area that goes out twice a week: Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. The group was originally affiliated with the Ann Arbor Ski Club. Because we ride on trails accessible to anyone, these are not official club activities, and not all riders are ski club members. OK, maybe we're shy of mountains in Michigan but there are plenty of hilly trails through the woods, and there is an active group of mountain bikers in the area that goes out twice a week: Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. The rides are usually followed by brunch or dinner, if we feel like it. (We usually do.)

Note: the biking schedule is NEVER final. Check the schedule a few days before each ride "just in case."

Sunday Golf Outings - Open to All

These are casual fun events. The only requirement is that you play “ready golf” by playing the course in the expected time frame, usually 2 1/4 hours for 9 holes .

Watch for events and schedule

Don't miss our biggest event of the year — the Annual Corn roast on Sunday, August 27th from 1:00-6:00 p.m. It will be held at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter at the River Grove Shelter — the same location as last year.  Lots of shade trees and a huge covered shelter with many picnic tables.

Entry fee for members and guests is $5 per person, which includes corn, hot dogs, and beverages. Please bring a dish to pass. Must be 21+ to attend. Grills and charcoal are also provided if you want to bring your own meat.

The daily fee to enter Hudson Mills Metro Park is $10 per vehicleYou may want to consider carpooling. Remember that many of the AASC Sunday cross country ski, hiking, biking and kayaking events take place at metro parksso now may be the time to consider purchasing an annual pass and help support our local parks. Annual passes are $35 for those age 61 or under, or $21 for age 62+.

When entering the park, watch for our signs to lead you to the two parking lots that surround the River Grove Shelter. But it's easy to find when you turn 'right" after the check in area, then either left into the Oak Meadows parking lot (paved path to shelter), or go straight to the River Grove lot (a short walk through the trees).

Volunteers Needed

If you are willing to help with the Corn Roast -- hospitality, membership, roasting corn, food area, set up, clean up, refreshments --- please email Joan Witte at It takes a lot of volunteers to hold our biggest event of the year -- either 1/2 or 1 hour shifts. Please help!
