No Approved  2020-2021 Ski Trips

The BOD  met on July 23.

Ski Trip Coordinator Lane Hotchkiss reported;

  • 25% of clubs are entering locked-in contracts
  • 25% of clubs are entering escape-clause contracts
  • 50% aren't scheduling trips

There are NO club sponsored events on our calendar at this time.

Because of the uptick in infections and hospitalizations the Board chose to continue in the current virtual-only status.

Membership Year Extended AGAIN!

  • The club's Board of Directors elected to extend current memberships until 30-APR-2021.
  • If you want to join the fee is $20.

Not All Are Cancelled

Southeast Michigan Ski Swaps listed by Bob Cowen of Alpine Valley

All swaps are concerned with safety protocols.  I can't speak for others but please feel free to use what we (at Alpine Valley) are doing if you need examples.

Our objectives: faster, easier and safer.  We are requiring that all items be registered on-line at our swap website (SwapAV.com); no on-site computers for public use.

Reservations must be made for drop-off and pick up; we should have done this years ago because it eliminates long lines.

We will limit the number of people in the building when necessary (will vary based on the time of day).

Masks will be required, hand sanitizer will be available, doors will be open to improve air circulation, face shields may be used in certain areas such as cashiers, floors will be marked at 6' increments where necessary to ensure social distancing.

These protocols are continuously reviewed and updated.

And, Bob leads us to a useful Facebook group.

Warren Miller's 71ST

SKI Magazine's Review

This year, viewers will be able to watch the action unfold on their own screens, from the comfort of their own couches. “Future Retro” will be available for streaming via WME’s virtual event platform on three separate dates depending on region:

  • East Coast
    Nov. 7
  • Mountain/Central Nov. 14
  • West Coast
    Nov. 21

Each virtual screening will feature favorite Warren Miller screening traditions, including swag giveaways, lift ticket deals, backstage passes to meet athletes, and a virtual red carpet preshow with host and narrator, Jonny Moseley.

The List
  • lodge
  • ski school
  • lift lines
  • gondolas
  • chairlifts

What do these things have in common?

They're all places where you will have to wear a face mask.

Skiers are not unfamiliar with a code of conduct.

Special thanks go to Alan Osterdale.  He gathered much of what was published in this newsletter.

And, he gathered more, which you'll get to see in next month's A2SC eBlast, which will publish on the

Ides of November

(15th)
